Purpose of the role
The purpose of this role is to support older people to enjoy meaningful experiences outside the home by providing companionship, confidence, and a friendly presence during outings. Outing Companion Volunteers help older people stay connected to their community, enjoy moments of joy, and feel valued and supported.
Key responsibilities
- Accompany older people on planned outings and ensure they feel safe, supported and confident while travelling outside the home
- Provide friendly conversation and social engagement during trips helping to reduce loneliness and end enhancing residents’ sense of connection and enjoyment
- Offer practical, non-clinical assistance such as guiding older people to and from vehicle, promoting comfort and independence

- Reliability, consistency and commitment
- Ability to build genuine connection with older people
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Time commitment
- Whether you can offer one hour a week or fortnight, your time helps create moments that matter for older people
